Salix lanata

This hardy deciduous shrub has hairy silvery green foliage. The white wooly young branches thicken as they mature, the erect golden male catkins appear between May and September. It will reach to about 100cm in height and 100cm spread but it can be pruned to keep the shape and size that you require and is excellent in a border or at the back of an alpine bed. We often used this plant in our displays at the many shows we attended over the years and it was always a good foyle for other plants. It does not tolerate maritime exposure too well.
