About Us

Border Alpines is a family-run specialist plant nursery situated in North Devon (South West England) although it started life in Shropshire before we made the move south in 2005 to warmer climes and less annual rainfall. Our rural inland situation suits us – sheltered from the prevailing winds but close enough to the coast to be able to enjoy the Atlantic breakers year round.

We specialise in alpines, small perennials and herbaceous plants. We are breeders of hardy geraniums and have a passion for finding new strains and cultivars to bring to market. Most of our plants are grown here on the nursery and all are grown in the UK. You will find our patented plants in garden centres throughout the UK and Europe.

We first ran a mail order service in the 1980s, back when the printed catalogue was king and payment was by cheque or postal order!  Customer feedback was always lovely and we enjoyed the thought of our plants whizzing off to new homes. But it was time consuming .

With the help of our now grown children and the power of modern technology, we are thrilled to have brought back the option of mail order for customers.
